206 people on a plane

It’s nice here.  We spent a bit too much but also got a good deal. If that’s possible. Working on the theory that every silver lining has a cloud,  i hope I’m not jinxing things and added it to our list of holiday disasters which include, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanos, terrorism, plague and car crashes.

But I’m not posting on a basketball blog to boast about escaping England.  I am posting about 198 passengers and eight crew crammed into a plane yet 100 people can’t currently watch a game at Oaklands.  And while there aren’t currently any games at Oaklands,  it’s absurd.

There was no pretence of social distancing. Me and Dirk junior both sat next to strangers for four and a half hours. Most people wore masks (not pleasent for that long) but the crew did nothing about the millennials who decided they weren’t for them.

So all of that could happen but we can’t space 100 people out at a venue that could easily sit 600 if we bought new bleachers. Crazy really.

There are indoor test events planned for this weekend with a look to start admitting crowds in early October – which is the date we’ve been told for a while. So that’s positive.  But with pubs open and planes full i have to ask why it’s taking so long.
